VOCA Consumer, Housing, & Injunction for Protection Staff Attorney

Legal Aid Service of Broward County in Plantation, Florida seeks an attorney to provide civil legal assistance to victims of crime in the areas of consumer; housing; and injunctions for protection for non-intimate partners, commonly referred to as “restraining orders”, under the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant. The ideal attorney must be hardworking, comfortable litigating in court, have excellent interpersonal and client service skills, and have effective communication and organizational skills.
Candidate must have a J.D. from an accredited institution, have 1-3 years of relevant experience in consumer law, housing laws, and injunctions/restraining orders, including domestic violence, stalking, sexual violence, and repeat violence injunction petitions. The applicant must have a commitment to providing legal services to the poor. English/Spanish/Creole-speaking candidates are strongly preferred. Florida Bar membership required. Position open immediately.
The current entry-level salary is $60,000 per year. The salary for the successful applicant may be significantly higher, based on the applicant’s years of experience.
