Litigation Associate Attorney – Commercial & Real Estate Litigation
The Elliot Legal Group, P.A. — Downtown Fort Lauderdale — Full-time, in-office $85,000-$105,000 + origination bonus
This is a courtroom seat, not a document-review seat. You would be the firm’s second attorney, working directly with its founder, which means the motions, the depositions, and the hearings are yours from the first month rather than after two years of doc review.

Founded in 2010, The Elliot Legal Group, P.A. is a boutique business law firm with offices in Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. We represent business owners, investors, and property owners in commercial and real estate litigation, bankruptcy and creditors rights matters, and the transactional work that surrounds them, in Florida’s state courts and the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Managing attorney Gavin Tudor Elliot has practiced since 2001, started his career as a public defender who tried more than 30 cases in his first two years, and holds an AV Preeminent rating. You will learn trial practice from someone who tries cases.
What you will do
— Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, and written discovery in commercial, real estate, and creditors’ rights matters
— Take and defend depositions, argue motions, and cover hearings in the Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach circuit courts and the Southern District of Florida
— Run discovery, deadlines, and case strategy on your own matters with the managing attorney as your backstop
— Deal directly with clients, opposing counsel, mediators, and court staff
— Prepare witnesses, exhibits, and trial materials for evidentiary hearings, mediations, and trial
Twelve months in, you should have your own docket of matters you are moving toward resolution, deposition and hearing experience you can count on two hands, and a clear view of how a business litigation practice is built.
What we are looking for
Required:
— Member of The Florida Bar in good standing
— At least two years of civil litigation experience
— Research and writing you are proud of; a writing sample is part of the application
— Able to work full-time from our downtown Fort Lauderdale office. Attorneys commuting from Miami-Dade or Palm Beach are welcome.
Preferred:
— Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida
— Experience with real estate, construction, bankruptcy, or creditors’ rights disputes
— A judicial clerkship, prosecutor or public defender background, or other heavy courtroom time
Compensation and benefits
— $85,000-$105,000 base salary, depending on experience
— Origination bonus on business you bring to the firm
— Florida Bar dues and CLE paid
— Professional liability coverage
— Downtown parking
